ABC-USA Missions

American Baptist Churches USA reaches out prophetically and missionally through two unique entities with shared values. The first is American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS), formerly National Ministries. The second is American Baptist International Ministries (IM).

FBC supports both ABHMS and IM financially, recognizing that, through shared work with thousands of other churches, much can be – and is – being accomplished.

American Baptist Home Mission Societies

American Baptist Home Mission Societies answers God’s call to live out Christian faith and transform individuals, congregations, and communities through developing Christ-centered leaders, networks, and programs committed to witness and evangelism, social justice, discipleship, and mission work across the United States and Puerto Rico.

Ministries include (but are not limited to):

  • Disaster Relief
  • Neighborhood Action Programs
  • Church Plants

American Baptist International Ministries

American Baptist International Ministries began its pioneer mission work in 1814 in Myanmar (Burma) and today works in Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas, serving more than 1,800 long-term and short-term missionaries in more than 70 countries. Its central mission is to help people come to faith in Jesus, grow in their relationships with God, and change their worlds through the power of the Spirit.

Ministry focus areas include:

  • Theological education – equipping pastors and laypersons through training (e.g. seminaries, Bible schools, pastoral institutes).
  • Evangelism – inviting people to faith in Jesus and helping them form churches.
  • Economic Development – mentoring local leaders and helping communities build and strengthen their economies to achieve short-term goals and long-term sustainability.
  • Health – helping people experience abundant life, serving alongside medical professionals.
  • Human Trafficking – combating modern-day slavery through ministries of rescue and care.
  • Peace and Refuge – training individuals in skills of conflict transformation and assisting in providing refuge to those displaced by violence, persecution, or natural disaster.

ABHMS and IM work beyond the local church, but are supported by the local church. As our mission dollars are committed to these two entities, we partner with God’s Spirit here and around the globe. The church is truly larger than you think. To support American Baptist Churches USA or any of our other mission partners, consider online giving.
