Take home an Easter Flower Easter Sunday
If you would like to take home one of the flowers used to decorate the sanctuary on Easter Sunday, all you have to do is sign up in the narthex beside one of the flowers you’d like.  We will have twelve Easter Lillies, two Hyacinths and two Tulips available on a first-come, first-serve basis through the sign-up sheet.  A love offering for the flowers is welcome at your discretion.

Update the photo tree with a Selfie
Please help us update our photo tree wall outside Barker Hall. A “selfie spot” will be available on Palm Sunday. Please send a recent photo now through Easter. This is for anyone who is connected or wants to connect more. The photo tree wall helps us all put a face to a name. Please e-mail your photo to Brian or text it to him at (920) 924-6857.

Doug & Beverly’s 50th Anniversary Celebration
Doug and Beverly Jennings and their family would like to invite you to a celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary at a special open house at First Baptist Church on March 30 from 3-5pm.  They have requested no gifts, saying: “your presence is present enough.”

What’s happening on the East lot?
Another round of Glyphosate will be applied in the next few weeks when the temperatures warm up a little bit more. In late April or early May, the seeding will happen! The net result of the seeding will be a somewhat barren and unkempt looking field. It will not look very pretty this summer, which is the expected result for the first year. But in the end, we will have nice environmentally friendly attractive pollinator habitat for our community. So, keep watching and checking back in on the progress. Additionally, we anticipate a cost savings of approximately $2,400 on mowing and maintenance for the field.

We want to thank Pheasants Forever and Illinois Prairie Community Foundation for their support. They have fully been in favor of this effort and have provided valuable information, support, and encouragement in addition to awarding us grant money for the project.

10th First Baptist Basketball Bracket Challenge
On March 17th the NCAA basketball teams were announced.  We are back for the tenth year of the First Baptist Basketball Bracket Challenge. Last year Calvin Wetzel had the picks and was the winner.  Don’t feel as though you need to be a college basketball expert and you can be any age.  No matter where you are located, all you need is an email address. Instructions will be emailed Sunday night once the teams are chosen.  Send your email address to David Greenfield to get on the list!

Supporting the Ministry Together

FBC

In the Community

        • America for Christ Offering 2024 Grace Upon Grace
Thanks to a history of generous donations to the America for Christ (AFC) Offering, American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) has provided financial support to American Baptist churches and affiliated organizations across the United States and Puerto Rico year over year. Please help us continue to bring healing and hope to communities, families, children and Jesus’ disciples in 2024 by supporting this year’s America for Christ Offering.
        • Faith in Action (One of FBC’s partner ministries) is in need of volunteers either occasionally or regularly to serve local seniors by providing the kinds of services a friendly neighbor might provide, such as a ride to the grocery store or doctor, or perhaps raking leaves.  The opportunity is completely flexible.  Serve according to your own schedule and availability. There is an evening orientation for new volunteers next week, as well as a daytime orientation the following week. If you might be interested, please click the link or call 309-827-7780.   Carolyn Wetzel, Virginia Jordan-Benson and Gretchen Clemmons can all answer questions as well.
Here are the upcoming orientation dates for new volunteers, please consider attending one of them.
