ABC Reading Partnership
Volunteers Needed:  Fall Harvest Festival
Sarah Raymond Early Childhood, 1402 West Olive Street, Bloomington
Friday, October 13, 2017 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.

First Baptist Church is part of a coalition of community partners promoting the importance of parental involvement in reading and activities with their children.  The ABC Reading partnership consists of representatives from Unit 5 Schools, Bloomington District 87, Heartland Head Start, the McLean County Health Department, Marcfirst/SPICE, the YWCA of McLean County, Bloomington and Normal Public Libraries, The Baby Fold, and Children’s Home and Aid.  First Baptist Church is the only community of faith partner with this coalition of community childhood advocates.

The community partners plan three evenings of activities throughout each school year.  Activities at the events include a reading time, games, and crafts; all designed to promote interactions between parents, children, while connecting families with community partners invested in the growth, development, and education of the youngest members of our community—the children. Over 100 children and their parents attended the Fall Festival in 2016.

The Fall Harvest Festival will be at Sarah Raymond Early Childhood Center on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.   We will be planning a special activity to support parent/child interactions for the event.  Volunteers from First Baptist Church are needed to help at our planned activity center.

We hope you will consider being a part of this event!  We promise it will be a great night of fun and a wonderful way for First Baptist Church to have a presence within our community outside the walls of our building. Please consider this volunteer activity and sign-up on the volunteer sheet located on the Mission table in the hallway.
